Summary
Redesigned Silver Icingβs Stylist program sign-up to make joining faster, clearer, and more scalable. The revamp cut completion time by 70%, removed friction that previously caused drop-offs, and introduced a Creator Program to boost brand exposure through influencer partnerships and reach a younger, more digitally engaged audience, supporting the brandβs post-pandemic growth strategy.
The Background
Redesigning Stylist Sign-Up for Growth and Reach
At Silver Icing, Stylists are customers who sign up to promote products on social media and earn commission through their own storefronts. Theyβve long been the heart of the brandβs community-driven growth.
However, the sign-up process became long and confusing, discouraging new applicants. Since most recruitment relied on personal referrals within a private Facebook community, this strong loyalty limited reach to new, digital-first audiences.
Global social-commerce sales grew from $560B in 2020 to $1.3T in 2025 (Statista, 2024), while Silver Icingβs referral-based Stylist recruitment remained flat (illustrative internal trend).
As influencer marketing became one of the fastest-growing retail channels after the pandemic, we decide to developed the Creator Program, a free, influencer-focused path to attract authentic creators and reach broader, untapped audiences.
The Problem
A Long, Unclear Process That Stopped Users from Joining
Only 67% of applicants completed the Stylist sign-up process between June 2023 and June 2024, proving friction, not lack of interest, was the biggest barrier. Before the redesign, the experience felt complicated and uncertain, demanding a fee and offering no clear confirmation. The process didn't match the excitement of joining a brand community it felt more like a transaction.

The Goal
Creating a Simple, Motivating, and Scalable Way to Join
After aligning with leadership on the need to expand reach, we redesigned the Stylist sign-up to serve both new and established audiences. The old flow couldnβt scale, so we focused on making joining effortless, value-driven, and trustworthy.
That direction led to three core design goals:
Clarify the Journey
Create two clear journeys for Stylists and Creators to eliminate confusion and set expectations early.
Simplify the Experience
Remove barriers like early tax collection to make sign-up faster, simpler, and more intuitive.
Support New Stylists
Turn the confirmation screen into a helpful next-step guide so new Stylists feel supported from day one.
The Research
Learning from Users and the Market
With limited time and no direct user testing, I focused on mapping and visualizing existing pain points to guide rapid ideation. I mapped every stage of the sign-up journey, highlighting where users felt friction, confusion, and frustration.
My analysis showed that most drop-offs occurred at moments requiring account setup or payment, where the flow failed to clearly communicate purpose and next steps.
Visualizing moments of hesitation and emotional drop-offs across the original flow.
From there, I mapped the lowest points in the journey and created a flowchart to illustrate a simplified dual-path sign-up. This alignment helped the team clarify structure, dependencies, and handoffs before moving into wireframes.

The Design Decisions
Scaling with Dual Sign-Up Paths
With these ideas in mind, I designed a scalable sign-up experience that meets the needs of both new Starters and established Creators through two tailored paths.
Creator Path : Built for Influencers
Creators can join for free by connecting their social accounts to verify 1K+ followers, automatically routing them to the correct program. This streamlined manual screening and created a more credible, automated experience.

Starter Path : Designed for Newcomers
Starters join with a $29 setup fee to confirm genuine commitment. This simple two-step process replaces the old checkout form, collecting only essentials and deferring sensitive info like tax until earning begins.

After completing sign-up, both Creator and Starter users see a clear confirmation screen with next-step guidance, instantly directing them to their Back Office and the IRL App. This ensures they feel supported and can begin their journey from day one.

These updates replaced a high-friction, transactional process with a confident, scalable system that welcomes both Creators and Starters with clarity and trust.
The Visual Design
Designing the Landing Page for Clarity
The Become a Stylist page is the critical first touchpoint, setting the tone for how new partners perceive the brand.
The new layout clearly communicates program value with a concise presentation of benefits and eligibility. A side-by-side comparison helps users instantly identify which path fits them best, while an FAQ section addresses common concerns such as eligibility, commissions, tax, and onboarding, empowering users to make informed decisions before signing up.
A clearer landing page that turns curiosity into confident sign-ups.
To ensure brand consistency and scalability, I built the interface using components from Silver Icingβs in-house UI library, which I had created earlier. Reusing core elements like buttons, inputs, and layout patterns accelerated development and maintained visual cohesion across future onboarding experiences.
The final landing page feels professional yet approachable, turning curiosity into confident action.

The Impact
Faster Sign-Ups, Broader Reach
What once felt complicated now feels seamless.
Simplifying the flow reduced drop-offs from 33% to 5% and cut completion time from 6β8 minutes to about 2 minutes. Clear confirmation and deferred tax setup built confidence and transparency, driving a 95% lift in conversion.
The new experience now helps Stylists and Creators join effortlessly while strengthening long-term trust in the brand.

The Lessons
Designing for Trust
This project reinforced how small UX decisions profoundly reshape user trust.
Designing for two distinct audiences, Creators and Starters, pushed me beyond UI clarity, challenging me to think about motivation, timing, and business goals. Collaborating closely with marketing and dev taught me to balance ambition with feasibility while maintaining empathy for the user journey.
In future iterations, Iβd focus on deeper analytics to track drop-offs by step and continue optimizing the confirmation flow to strengthen transparency and adoption.
